Marlo – Operations

The Operations module is where voyage execution happens. Marlo empowers operations teams to manage port activities, track vessel movements, handle laytime/demurrage, and generate necessary commercial documents—all within a streamlined workflow designed for real-time decision-making and accuracy.


Concepts in the module

  • Voyage Lifecycle – From scheduling to closure

  • Port Calls – Load, discharge, bunkering events

  • Laytime & Demurrage – Automated calculations and adjustments

  • Voyage Invoices – Freight, Hire, Demurrage, Commission Bills

  • Voyage P&L – Cost vs. Estimate variance

  • Voyage Statuses – Draft, Scheduled,/On‑Voyage/Completed/Closed


Workflows in the module

  1. Create a New Voyage

    • From the Operations dashboard, click “New Voyage”

    • Select fixture or estimate and assign vessel

    • Define itinerary with port calls, laycan, ETA/ETD, and voyage type

  2. Manage Port Calls & Activities

    • Log key events: loading, discharging, bunkering, idle, delays

    • Enter demurrage/laytime data manually or via automation

  3. Generate and Manage Invoices

    • Create freight or hire invoices directly from voyage data

    • Adjust invoice values for demurrage, commissions, bunker charges

    • Submit for approval or sync to Finance for posting

  4. Monitor Voyage P&L & Variances

    • Compare actual costs and revenues against the original estimate

    • Drill into conditions like extra idle time, port expenses, or bunker variances
